Acoustics RB Pty Ltd is a
specialised environmental acoustics consultancy. Director and Principal Consultant, Russell Brown, has more than 30 years
experience in environmental noise issues including noise measurement and
investigation of noise problems, environmental noise impact studies and
formulation of noise policies and control strategies.
Russell has presented expert evidence on many occasions and
in a number of jurisdictions in Queensland and NSW.
He is a regular contributor to national and international conferences on
environmental noise and a member of the Standards Association of Australia
Committee on Environmental Noise as well as a foundation member of the
Queensland Division of the Australian Acoustical. He has also been a regular guest lecturer in
environmental noise at Griffith
University and a
recurrent adviser to Queensland Department of Environment and Resource Management on
environmental noise policy.
Since 1982, Russell has conducted environmental noise impact
assessments for public and private sector clients at more than one thousand industrial,
commercial and residential developments in Queensland.
His experience has ranged from monitoring of noise emission
from noise sources of many types to the planning and co-ordination of
environmental impact statements for proposed large commercial and industrial
complexes. This work has encompassed all
stages from project planning, government liaison and 24 hour monitoring of the
existing noise climate, through modelling of noise sources and prediction of
the new noise levels following development, to provision of designs for noise
control treatments to meet statutory requirements and formulation of draft
policy for State and Local Government.
